Just wondering what people mean when they talk about doing this in teams. Is this possible?

Essentially, what they mean is just a group of individuals who work together - sharing ideas and answers such that you all work together trying to solve a question then, when one of you does, everyone is given the answer and you all move on to the next question.

Normally, what happens is that you appear as individuals on the leaderboard but, because you are working together, you all move up it as a "bunch".

Don't feel that you have to be in a team to compete though. We were all individuals once. Some people prefer to always work as an individual and others prefer to work together, do which ever you find most enjoyable. You don't need to think about it, teams seem to form up quite naturally as you communicate more and more with the people who are generally on the same puzzle as you. Just go with the flow and see what happens.

Just wondering if it would be possible to start a TEAM log in on this site. Especially, as there will be no leaderboard but only a 'hall of fame'. I think it would be cool for all of us to be signed in under our team name and solve as a team rather than as an individual.

What do you think?

Pam

I think it would be a lot of work to implement and test before the launch Laughing

The "hall of fame only" is just for this contest. For the next contest (and presumably any others after that), the leaderboard will not be disabled.

I did think long and hard about having a single login for each team, but eventually dismissed it at this would deprive individual members of a team being able to solve on their own should they wish.

With the system in place here (assuming it is deployed) each individual has their own stats, viewable through the progress link. However, for the leaderboard and hall of fame, the stats for all members of a team are merged so that just a single entry appears, and anyone will be able to see the individual members of a team by hovering their mouse cursor over the team name.

Naturally, we need to see how this pans out, and can adapt it if necessary.

Wow - glad this didn't happen. It would be annoying to come home from work and just see a new puzzle with no explanation of the intervening puzzles. I always like to have a go at solving the puzzles that my team mates have solved whilst I wasn't there - of course I give in and ask for the answer and explanation if I'm not getting anywhere after a while. Laughing

I will definately be making sure I do that this contest with the ever present risk that the rest of the team could have taken an incorrect turn in the maze.

Been thinking how many teams are there actually competing in this competition?

And is it possible to put the team name above our pencils?

It's certainly a possibility... but I will wait till after Labyrinth:

1. It might not work, so there'd be no point Laughing

2. There might not be any teams left after it Say No More !
